Terms of Service
Last updated: 13 July 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of FoodFact (the “Service”), a software service that generates country-specific food-labeling and nutrition compliance reports from the product information you provide. FoodFact is a service operated by Hanolo(하놀로), a sole proprietorship registered in the Republic of Korea at Unit 202, 35 Nangok-ro 11-gil, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea — the party you contract with under these Terms (“Hanolo”, “we”, or “us”). By creating an account or purchasing a report, you agree to these Terms. If you are using FoodFact on behalf of a business, you confirm you are authorized to bind that business.
1. What FoodFact provides
FoodFact produces informational compliance reports — nutrition calculations, front-of-pack determinations, declaration text, and the cited legal bases for a selected market. Reports are decision-support tools. FoodFact is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. The final labeling and marketing decision for any product rests with the food business operator, who is responsible for verifying outputs against the applicable regulations before use. All report outputs are generated by our software; any human review we carry out is limited to internal quality and fraud checks and is not a consulting or advisory service.
2. Accounts
You must provide accurate account information and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or are used unlawfully.
3. Reports, credits, and pricing
Reports are sold individually or as report packs (bundles of report credits) per market and tier. Prices are shown on the relevant market’s pricing page at the time of purchase, exclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. A report credit entitles you to generate one report for the market and tier it was purchased for. We may change prices prospectively; changes do not affect credits already purchased. All purchases are one-time: FoodFact does not sell subscriptions, and there is no recurring billing or automatic renewal.
4. Payment and merchant of record
Our order process and payments are handled by our authorized reseller and merchant of record, Polar (Polar Software Inc.). When you buy a report or report pack, Polar is the seller of record for that transaction; Polar handles billing, payment, tax collection, and the customer receipt. Polar’s buyer terms also apply to your purchase. FoodFact provides the Service and fulfils your report credits once payment is confirmed.
5. Refunds
Refunds and cancellations are described in our Refund & Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Because reports are digital goods delivered on demand, specific conditions apply.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service: no unlawful use, no attempts to breach security or rate limits, no resale or redistribution of reports as a competing data service, and no submission of content you do not have the right to submit.
7. Intellectual property
FoodFact and its software, content, and report templates are owned by FoodFact and its licensors. You retain ownership of the product data you submit (see Section 8 on how we keep it confidential) and receive a license to use the reports you generate for your own business purposes.
8. Confidentiality of your formulation data
We treat the formulation data you submit — ingredient identities, quantities and ratios, and manufacturing process details — as your confidential information and, where applicable, your trade secret. We use it solely to provide the Service (computing, rendering, and verifying your reports) and do not disclose it to anyone except the processors named in our Privacy Policy, acting under our instructions, or where disclosure is required by law. We protect it with the technical measures described on our Securitypage, including encryption at rest, and you may permanently delete a report’s formulation from our servers at any time from the order page. That deletion also removes the archived PDF, which you will no longer be able to download from us — the flow requires you to export the PDF and a full JSON copy of your data first. What remains afterwards is the report’s verification record: the issuance facts, the label declarations that must appear on the package, and one-way SHA-256 fingerprints. Your formulation is never published on the verification page. These obligations survive the closure of your account.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided “as is”. FoodFact does not warrant that reports are error-free or that they satisfy every regulatory requirement for your product; regulations change and depend on facts only you control. To the maximum extent permitted by law, FoodFact is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the report(s) giving rise to the claim.
10. Changes
We may update the Service and these Terms. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here limits any mandatory consumer rights you may have under the law of your country of residence.
